Overcoming Caregiver Burnout by Choosing Strength and Resilience
Whew….what a year 2020 has been! But you guys, it’s only about one month left and we finally made it!! This year has been a big challenge for most, and I would be lying if I didn’t admit that it has been challenging for me. We sold a home and bought a home, and moved out of state during the pandemic. I also continued to homeschool my children, plus care for my disabled son. I’m a huge advocate for self-care, and you all know that my mantra for YEARS has been “you can’t be good to others, if you aren’t good to yourself.” But sometimes I need reminding. I somehow get on autopilot being a mom and a wife, and a caregiver. I have to stop and reset everything! As women we carry such a huge weight, we have to remember and be reminded to care for ourselves.
How I Quickly Reset When I’m Burned Out:
Journaling – A quick brain dump in my journal as well as writing down what I’m grateful for is one of the fastest ways for me to get back on track. Writing down what you’re grateful for has a way of resetting your brain. It makes you focus on all the positive things you have in your life.
Getting active – Get moving! I try to go for a 3 plus mile walk everyday. I just bought a jump rope to incorporate that into my daily routine. Being active helps you to feel renewed, healthy, and strong.
CHEWs to be Strong – I began taking Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews daily to be strong from the inside out. Calcium plays an important role in strengthening bones and teeth, as well as helping muscles (including the heart) and nerves function properly. If your body is not getting enough calcium it begins to take it from your bones, decreasing bone mineral density which can eventually lead to osteopenia and osteoporosis. As women, proper nutrition is so important for our bodies!
- Each Viactiv soft chew contains 650 mg of calcium, 500 IU of vitamin D, and 40 mcg of vitamin K. It’s the perfect trifecta your body needs to help strengthen and protect your bones to help you stay strong at all stages of life.
- Viactiv also contains vitamin D and vitamin K, two critical vitamins that help strengthen your bones. Before calcium can do its job, it must be absorbed by your body – and that’s where vitamin D comes in. Vitamin D regulates calcium absorption in the body, maintains calcium and phosphate levels, and promotes bone growth. Viactiv has 500 IUs of vitamin D in every tasty chew!
- Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews are available in either delicious milk chocolate or caramel flavors and are individually wrapped so you can easily take them on-the-go! If I’m rushing, I just drop two in my bag!
It’s easy to get overwhelmed with life during these times, and we could all use a quick reset! As a mom and caregiver, I have to quickly remind myself to slow down and get back on track. Ladies, we can’t forget about the care of ourselves! Self-care can sometimes begin to sound like a broken record, but it’s because we need that constant reminder to put ourselves and our health at the forefront. Strength, resilience, and good health are essential!
Viactiv is available in-store at major retailers or buy online from the comfort of your home at Walmart, Target, or Amazon. Remember to grab some on your next shopping trip or online order, and CHEWs to be strong!

November 30, 2020 at 11:13 pmThis is so good! Self care is so so important. I’m currently experiencing pandemic fatigue. I’m very restless, unmotivated, and my sleep/eating pattern is extremely off. I’m homeschooling and working remote and it’s challenging for sure. You are very courageous and strong willed and that is very refreshing to read. I too journal when I feel overwhelmed and need a time out. I like to journal during my lunch break and write down everything I’m grateful for.
Thanks for sharing!
