Learn to Speak Beautiful to Yourself
My life is pretty much non-stop. I’m running a business, I’m a wife, homeschool mom, and my son is epileptic. This means my plate is always full. Last weekend I spoke not once, but twice at Blogalicious. I wanted to share my expertise on blogging with other women who are seeking to be successful in the same field I’m in. Blogalicious was not only a professional weekend for me, but one for relaxing too. In the past, I’ve been very vocal on self care, but with so much on my plate I haven’t been able to “Speak Beautiful” to myself. During the opening keynote of the conference award winning blogger Luvvie Ajayi as well as other prominent bloggers and social media figures spoke on how social media affects girls and their self esteem. 8 out of 10 girls and women are affected by negativity on social media. Unfortunately likes and follows are affecting our self worth. As a blogger this is super important to me, especially as I raise my daughter.
I recently wrote about teaching my daughter to speak beautiful by practicing daily affirmations to promote self esteem and self love. In teaching my daughter to value herself, I have to be an example by starting with myself. I’ve always believed as a mom, being good to me is being good to my family. I can’t be a good wife and mom if I haven’t put myself in the forefront. Being so busy makes it hard to schedule in this time. The Dove suite at Blogalicious gave me the self care time I needed to Speak Beautiful to myself.
The Dove suite offered facials by a licensed esthetician with the new Dove Dry Oil Beauty Beauty Bar. The Dove Dry Oil Beauty Bar is made with 1/4 moisturizing cream and Moroccan Argan Oil. The time I spent getting my facial was the most I’ve relaxed in weeks. The Dove Dry Oil Beauty Bar smells amazing and my skin was left feeling incredibly smooth and soft.
My face was left with a clean slate so that I could get my makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Ashley Green. I told Ashley that I haven’t had my makeup done since I went on prom as a senior in high school. She made sure to do it extra special. I started feeling really good about doing something just for me. Learning to Speak Beautiful to myself feels pretty good!
Now that I’m back home from the conference, I’m making sure to start a daily self care routine for myself, because the small actions add up to big ones! On wash day I’ll be using Dove Coconut & Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner as well as Dove Quench Absolute Supreme Crème Serum. Each product helps to protect my hair from dryness and promotes shine and manageability. During my shower I can create a little spa moment at home, so I can get some mommy peace before my day begins. I use the Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash that’s also infused with a blend of Moroccan Argan Oil beads to replenish 12x more of my skins natural nutrients. Afterwards I use Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant that goes on dry, promotes softer skin and offers 48 hours of odor and wetness protection.
Studies have shown that 82% of women feel like social media promotes unrealistic beauty standards. That’s why here on MommyWeek I always keep it real with my readers. My life isn’t perfect and it’s important for me to share those real mom life moments! You can join me in the Speak Beautiful movement not only by taking care of yourself and your daughter but by encouraging women and the next generation of girls to turn ugly tweets into beautiful ones with the #SpeakBeautiful hashtag on Twitter.
