Back to School Must Have’s for Creative Girls
It’s that time of year……back to school! I know a lot of you guys wonder how unschooler’s do back to school. It’s much like how all other homeschoolers and kids who go to traditional school prepare for back to school. It’s time to buy new supplies, clothes, shoes, and new curriculum. I do a one on one session with my kids to talk about what they want to focus on for the year, and what their goals are so we can dig into their interests. Since my boys are older, I’ve already spent a lot of time with them developing their passions. Now BabyCake is at an age where she has an opinion on her style and her future. She’s expressed to me her desire to create art, write, sew, and even get into videography. Those cute little stop motion videos she watches, yeah, she wants to make her own. This is what unschooling is all about! As her mom I’m here to provide the necessary tools for her to be great.
We had a conversation surrounding what colors she likes, and what kind of supplies she would need to feed her creative goals. I decided to head out to my local Walmart to grab everything she needs to get her school year off to a great start! Since I have three kids, I’m all about saving a coin…..or two, and Walmart has the best low prices and it’s a one stop shop. I like that Walmart also has several options for shopping — in stores, online, pick-up and delivery services, Free 2 Day Delivery, and Next Day Delivery – where available, so check first! If I was really busy this week, I could have utilized all of those other options to save me some time. Before I went into the store I even checked out their online Back to School Guide where you can shop by Grade, find your local teachers’ school supply list, plus check out all of the current trends. I wanted to get a good idea of what I planned to buy ahead of time.

BabyCake loves the color blue and mermaids so she was super excited to get this cool backpack. It’s also going to fit all of her library books so she can carry them instead of me! I even found her a cute jogging suit and accessories to match.
My creative girl is all ready to think outside the box and inspired to start her unschooling year!
