How to Press the Reset Button On Your Morning Routine
My family started 2020 off with a bang……and by bang, I mean the flu. At the end of 2019, things were going great. I was de-cluttering my home, my husband and I were working on a huge DIY home improvement project, and I had just bought a new planner. I had chosen my word for 2020 and shared it on Instagram: RESPIRE. To recover hope, courage, or strength after a time of difficulty. As a mom of a child with a chronic illness, 2019 hadn’t been the easiest of year. I was looking forward to 2020 and all of what a fresh start had to offer, and then bam……..the flu! I had to use the first two weeks of 2020 as a big lesson. First, you have to learn when to be still and patient. Your plans will all come to a halt when illness comes knocking at your door. No matter if I wanted to rush sickness away, it wasn’t moving through my home any faster.
Thank goodness two weeks later things are finally looking up for my family and we’re on the mend from starting our year out with the flu! Now I’m officially ready to kick things back into gear, and get my year going. Since I’ve literally been checked out from life for about two weeks my email inbox is overflowing, and I have to get some order in my home. It’s never too late to press the reset button, so I’m going to share with you guys how my morning routine helps me to put my best foot forward for my day to be less stressful and relaxed.
Morning Routine Essentials:
- Plan to Get Up Earlier Than Your Family – I know that we all can’t be morning people. but getting up at least an hour earlier than my family has been one of the best things that I could do for my self-care. If I wake up at the same time as my children, that’s a good way to ensure that my day is going to be chaotic and stressful. The extra time from rising earlier than my family gives me some time alone with peace and quiet to get the day going. I can have my cup of tea or coffee in peace, read, do some adult coloring, pray and meditate, and simply just enjoy the stillness of the morning before we get our day started as a family. This time is so vital for setting the tone of my day.
2. Do Something That Makes You Happy – What is one thing you can do in the morning that offers you peace and happiness? Something that you can commit to daily? For me, it’s a few things – like prayer & meditation and having a cup of tea or coffee. The consistent daily routine of doing something that brings me peace allows me to start my day with my best foot forward. Is there a podcast you enjoy? Art? Reading? Add it to your morning routine and it can change the trajectory of your day!
3. Take Natrol 5-HTP – Natrol 5-HTP is a supplement that I have taken on and off for many years, and I’ve recommended it to countless women both online and in real life. Natrol 5-HTP is the #1 5-HTP brand in America, ^Nielsen, xAOC, 52 weeks ending 11/30/19, and it promotes a calm and relaxed mood while helping you maintain a positive outlook.† After pretty much missing two weeks of life and the new year, I’m adding Natrol 5-HTP to my morning routine to help me maintain positivity and a calm and relaxed mood while I get my life back in order.
