How to Establish Your Back to School Routine After a Relaxed Summer Break
It’s that time of year again……back to school! As homeschoolers my family officially starts back on September 4th because we make our own schedules. I know many families have already started back, and some in the next few weeks. Whenever your kiddos head back to school, those first few weeks readjusting to the back to school schedule can be difficult. All summer long we’ve taken it easy. Late nights and later mornings. Start Planning – I know I said I put my planner away for three months, but now it’s time to get back to it! I fill my calendar with all of the kids fall activities, what’s happening on the weekends, and important dates & deadlines. That way I can see what is happening and when. It helps me to feel more organized and in order.
Create a morning schedule – My morning routine is also an important part of the back to school shuffle. I consciously plan to wake up one to two hours before my children. That way I have my quiet time with a cup of tea or coffee. I pray and meditate to get my mind right for the day. It’s also the time that I take to write or do some adult coloring. “Me time” and self-care are so important for moms and I make sure to get it in by any means necessary. After all of that is said and done I can get breakfast ready and the kids going in a relaxed state.
Set your bedtime and stick to it – I know I just talked about that awesome morning routine, but you can’t experience that greatness without a set bedtime routine!
