What Have We Been Up To?
Did you all miss me?! I took an intentional hiatus from the blog for the month of December. At the end of November I was determined to take a break for the remainder of the year. I was in need of some serious self care and I really wanted to get back to doing the things that I truly love. Having a child with a chronic illness, working, homeschool, and being a wife all at once means I’m spreading myself extremely thin. There are only 24 hours in a day, and while I pride myself on being able to get it all done, under extreme stress, something has to give.
I spent December being specifically intentional about self care. If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat you’ll know that daily I share affirmations from one of my favorite books. I’ve added meditation and adult coloring to my daily routine. I’m sharing tidbits of inspiration from my daily life that I believe other women can benefit from.
I’ve also been spending a lot of time paying attention to my family. Last year I was almost glued to the computer daily. In 2017, that can’t happen anymore. While being a “mompreneur” has it’s perks, I don’t believe that work life balance exists. At any given point in your life, something will suffer. While I was attempting to run my business at full speed, my family suffered. December was all about paying attention to my favorite people.
A lot of you know the battles I’ve faced with my sons epilepsy. I’m happy to say that we’ve had a good couple of weeks. We have began alternative treatments with a holistic clinic in Houston. I’ll keep you guys updated on a separate post about that!
In 2017 I’m all about getting back to the things that make MommyWeek great! I’ll be sharing more about self care and why it’s so important to mom life. I’m going to add more homeschool content because people ask me all the time how I do it. My kids have been homeschooled all of their lives so more of that will be here on the blog. We will be back to traveling more as my sons health improves. I’m also going to be back in the kitchen with “MommyWeekEats”. If you’ve missed my cooking, make sure you’re following along on Snapchat or Instagram stories. I’m always sharing recipes there!
Here is to a blessed and prosperous new year to all of my readers!! Happy 2017!
