10 Ways to Drink More Water During the Day
I think we all know we’re supposed to drink 8-10 8 oz glasses of water a day, but how many of us are really reaching this goal? I know I fall short sometimes… Okay, a lot of the time! So I’ve come up with 10 Ways to Drink More Water During the Day. I’m hoping to motivate you and myself to stay hydrated.
Why Drinking Water is Important
60% of our body is water and everyday we lose a portion of it through our bodily functions. Our vital organs depend on water to work and function properly. Dehydration can cause fatigue, dry skin, headaches and a host of other problems and illnesses. Drinking water is simply good for your health.
Drink More Water!
- Add Fruit – Adding fruit to my water is one of my favorite ways to drink it. Fruit can add some flavor to your water, plus you can get your daily dose of Vitamin C when you add strawberries, oranges, or lemons.
- Make detox water – Detox water can also contain fruit, but sometimes contains veggies and herbs as well. Different veggies and herbs can be beneficial in removing certain harmful properties from you body.
- Warm lemon water – Drink a glass of warm lemon water in the morning before you get your day started. Read about it’s health benefits here.
- Drink from a larger container – Fill a liter jug and try to finish it by the end of the day, every day.
- Make it a family affair – Get the kids involved! My kids love charts and counting. Make a family chart that goes in the kitchen to show how much water everyone is getting a day.
- Use an App – Use apps like Waterlogged or Water Your Body on your phone to keep track of how much water you are drinking daily.
- Try different types of Water – There are many types of water to choose from to get your daily needs. Spring, Artesian, Mineral, Purified, Alkaline, Ionized, etc.
- Drink before a meal – Sometimes dehydration is masked by hunger. Have some water before you eat. You may realize you were less hungry than you thought.
- Add water to your juice – My kids call it “water juice!” It will still have some sweetness, but you’ll fulfill some of your daily water needs.
- Add frozen fruit – Add frozen fruit to your water in place of ice cubes. After you’re done drinking, you can eat the fruit!
Are you going to try any of my 10 Ways to Drink More Water During the Day? What are some of your favorite ways to make sure you and your family drink enough?

April 16, 2014 at 10:39 pmGreat tips Ashley. You know how I feel about water. Even still, it’s a challenge to get my 100 oz in daily. Now if I had to drink 100 oz of Coffee we would be all set.

May 9, 2014 at 4:14 pmWhen I was working, I’d carry a large jug and drink it all through the day.
My skin was glowing and I was more regular!
Gotta pick up that habit again!
