5 Reasons to Visit Tennessee Aquarium
This past weekend we headed to Chattanooga, TN. It’s just a short two hour drive from Atlanta. Our first stop was the Tennessee Aquarium! My husband and I have actually visited years ago before we had any children, so it was nice to do it again with the little ones in tow. A few things have changed since we were last there, so there was a lot more to see and do. If you’re thinking about heading to Chattanooga with your family, here are 5 Reasons to Visit Tennessee Aquarium I want to share with you!
1. Hands on learning: I really like to get my children involved in sensory activities, and the aquarium has plenty of opportunities for hands on learning. In Discovery Hall you and your children have the opportunity to touch various species of fish like the sturgeon from the Tennessee river. If you head over to the Stingray Bay you will find the aquariums largest touch station filled with several different stingray species. I’m too squeamish to touch any aquatic animals, but the children enjoyed every moment!
2. River Giants: The new River Giants exhibit has gone through an extreme makeover and now holds about 90,000 gallons of water and home to some of the largest species of fish. It’s an amazing sight!
3. Butterflies Galore! My son wants to be an entomologist, so the Butterfly Garden was a real treat for him! You can get up close and personal with free-flying butterfly species from Asia, Africa, South and Central America. There is also the opportunity to peek into the lab and see butterflies at all stages of life.
4. Boneless Beauties: This gallery is filled with a room full of some of the most beautiful jellyfish I have ever seen. It’s really captivating!
5. Undersea Cavern: This giant tank is filled with salt water deep sea creatures and colorful coral reef. If you look close you’ll see a 10 foot shark swim by.
My family had a great day at the Tennessee Aquarium! There is so much more to see and do there. To learn more visit them online at tnaqua.org or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
Stay tuned for the rest of my recap from our most recent trip to Chattanooga!
Has your family ever been to the Tennessee Aquarium?
