Big thanks to the wonderful people at Mitsubishi and Drive Shop for the opportunity to test the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander GT. All opinions expressed here are my own!
Travel to the Gulf Coast in the Mitsubishi Outlander GT
Recently my family took our first trip to Pensacola, FL. My husband and I traveled to the Gulf Coast last summer, and loved the clear water and white sand beaches in South Walton & Destin. This happened to be the first time the kids tagged along. The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander GT was the perfect car for the trip! This CUV (crossover utility vehicle) was super roomy and seats up to seven passengers. One of my favorite parts of the Outlander GT was all of the seat configurations.
The seven passenger seating is standard in all 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander GT’s. This makes more room for moving things around, or packing up for a road trip to the Gulf Coast like we did! BabyCake actually bought seven baby dolls with us on the trip, and we also packed up our fishing rods that we used on the Pensacola Bay.
When traveling with kids, one of my biggest concerns is safety. The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander GT has seven standard airbags including a driver knee airbag. The latest safety feature, which I have yet to see in any other car that I have tested, is the Forward Collision Mitigation System. This system is perfect when in bumper to bumper traffic or when you’re hitting the highway for a road trip. It determines whether a frontal collision is imminent and it applies the brakes for you in the event of an accident. You can adjust this feature for near or far and it also gives an audible warning.
The dashboard has a bunch of great features as well, like the rear view camera system, touch panel with Sirius XM satellite radio, and touchscreen navigation system. I had a little trouble getting the navigation system to get me to specific addresses, so it took some playing around with and trouble shooting.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander GT gets around 31 miles per gallon on the highway. We were able to travel from Atlanta, and made it to the Florida line before filling up the tank again. It also has LED positioning lights which came in handy driving on the dark roads between Alabama and Florida, especially when it’s foggy at night. This particular CUV starts at $22K and is really an affordable choice for families looking for a larger vehicle.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander GT was a lot of fun to drive across the Gulf Coast! For more details, specs, and a Mitsubishi dealer near you, visit mitsubishicars.com!
