In this blog post I share my Three Bean Chili Recipe! For the past couple of days it’s been rainy and cold in Atlanta, and I know it’s snowing in other parts of the US. What better heart warming food to eat than Chili?! This recipe is mildly spicy, so my whole family can enjoy it.
Here’s what you need:
1 lb of ground beef
1 large onion diced
1 green bell pepper diced
3 garlic cloves minced
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 can of rotel diced tomatoes and chili’s
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
2 cups of beans drained (Black, Pinto, and Kidney Beans)
8 cups of water
3 tablespoons of Knorr chicken flavor (Chicken Bullion)
1 tablespoon of cumin
1 pinch of turmeric
1 tablespoon of chili powder
1 heaping teaspoon of paprika
1 tablespoon of dried oregano
1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional if you like your chili more spicy)
Salt & Pepper for seasoning ground beef
Sour Cream
Sharp Cheddar
Chopped Cilantro
First you are going to brown the ground beef over medium high heat in a large skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Once browned, set aside. Next in a large pot or dutch oven saute the diced onions, green peppers, and minced garlic. Once those are translucent add 8 cups of water, the diced tomatoes, Rotel, and kidney beans. Next add all the spices (Chicken bullion, cumin, turmeric, chili powder, paprika, oregano & cayenne pepper). Stir well and add the tablespoon of tomato paste. Taste and check for flavor, adjusting if necessary. Lastly add the ground beef and simmer on low heat until thickened, stirring occasionally for about an hour. Serve with sharp cheddar, a dollop of sour cream, and chopped cilantro.
Enjoy!
