Steps to a Gentle Wash Day
with Your Curly Girl
Wash Day is typically something BabyCake and I dread! I try to stretch her hairstyles as long as I can between wash day because it’s usually agony for the both of us. Wash day for my daughter usually involves quite a few tears and tangled hair. When it’s all done she looks beautiful, but I wish there was an easier process.
Now there is! This past week we tried out the new Just For Me Hair Milk Collection. This line especially for curly girls makes textured hair manageable before, during and after the washing process. Our wash day no longer has to be filled with crying and stress. Check out our new regimen below!
Step 1: Once we arrive to wash day, BabyCake’s hair is usually really dry and brittle. It’s pretty much one thick ball that’s hard to deal with. I put a generous amount of the Pre-Wash Softening Detangler on her hair and leave it on for a few minutes to soften it. Then I separate her hair into four parts and comb through with a large shampoo comb. This minimizes breakage and detangles before washing.
Step 2: Next I wash BabyCake’s hair with the Moisturesoft Sulfate-Free Cleanser. It foams really well and you don’t need to use much. Since it doesn’t strip the hair of it’s natural oils, her hair is left feeling soft and squeaky clean.
Step 3: At this point BabyCake’s hair is already really soft and manageable, but now it’s time to add the conditioner. We use the Just For Me Silkening Conditioner. It protects hair against breakage and it contains humectants, micro-oils and proteins to provide conditioning benefits long after you style your princesses hair. Her hair is parted into 4 sections and I comb through then rinse thoroughly.
Step 4: After towel drying her hair, I mist it with the Leave-In Detangler. The Just For Me line is really all about manageability. I’m able to easily run my fingers through BabyCake’s hair at this point and I don’t even need a comb. It passes the #5FingerChallenge and I think we are on our way to tear free wash day’s forever!
Step 5: Last I moisturize her hair with the Hydrate & Protect Leave-in Conditioner. I use this product to twist her hair as well. This lightweight formula made with shea butter, soymilk and honey is perfect for sealing in moisture and providing long lasting shine.
BabyCake’s hair turns out beautiful, soft, and shiny!
We love the Just For Me Hair Milk Collection!
