Spring Weekend Fun: Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival
Spring is officially here, and festival season has finally made it’s way to the Atlanta area! This past weekend my family and I attended the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival. We’re Dekalb County residents, so I really like when I can do something fun and free that’s also close to home. The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival was this past Saturday and Sunday at Blackburn Park. Brookhaven sits right between Buford Hwy and Dunwoody. It’s a lovely neighborhood with lots to see and do. We made our way to the festival shortly after the Brookhaven 5K Run/ 1K Walk. Hopefully next year we can sign up to participate as a family!
The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival happened at a time where the Cherry Blossom trees are all in bloom in Atlanta. It was a beautiful warm spring day. The Cherry Fest had something for the entire family. Lots of great artists and vendors had their goods on display to browse and for purchase. There was also a variety of our favorite festival foods like funnel cake, cotton candy, snow cones, and roasted corn. I love festival food!
There was live music on the main stage featuring a lot of great local musicians, plus enough lawn space for everyone to sit and enjoy. The music was great, but my family actually spent most of our time in the Children’s Village. The Children’s Village had fun activities, games, live performances, and lots of play space for the little ones.
My oldest son is a car enthusiast so he really enjoyed all of the classic cars on display during the Classic Car Show.
During a short break from the fun, we had a chance to chat with the Mayor of Brookhaven to talk about all of the great things happening in the city and Dekalb County.
We had a great day at the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival and can’t wait to head back again next year!
For future dates and location, keep an eye on the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival website!
