Six Reasons We Love Philadelphia
My family recently took a road trip up the east coast to visit my in laws in Philadelphia. We’ve done the 12 hour drive more times than I can count over the years, and this time we actually made it in 12 hours! When my children were younger, that drive would feel more like 17 or 18 hours with all of the stops in between. One of my favorite things about taking road trips is what you’ll see along the way. We normally take a different route to Philly, but this time we were able to see and stop at the roadside attraction South of The Border. South of The Border is located near the South Carolina/North Carolina line on 95S. It’s pretty exciting to say the least.

After that fun stop, we were well on our way to arrive in the east coast in a few hours, and onto widening my belt a couple of notches!
Six Reasons We Love The City of Brotherly Love
1. We love Philadelphia for the cheesesteaks and hoagies! If you’ve never had a sandwich from Philly, you’re missing out. It’s always too much to eat in one sitting and it can usually be shared with others.
2. We love Reading Terminal Market! You can pretty much find all foods of Philadelphia in one place there. I think I tasted a little bit of everything. The pretzels may have been my favorite.

3. We love LOVE Park! It was too cold to visit this time around, and now it’s currently under renovation. If you happen to visit Philly, you’ll be able to find other LOVE art pieces around the city.

4. We love the museums! Some of our favorites are The Franklin Institute, The Academy of Natural Sciences, and the Please Touch Museum. Of course I stayed behind the camera for the picture below! My boys were brave enough to touch the preserved sea creatures from South America at The Academy of Natural Sciences.

5. We love the murals! You can find beautiful art around any corner in Philadelphia.

6. We love the history! If you want to know about the origins of the United States, Philadelphia is the place to visit. Independence Hall and The Liberty Bell are both open year round and free to the public. There are historians all around to answer questions and to give a quick lesson.

I may be partial to loving Philadelphia since my husband is from there, but it really is a great place to visit. The best time to take a trip to the east coast is during the spring or summer. For more on what to see and do in Philadelphia, head to VisitPhilly.com!
