Our Trip To Myrtle Beach
My family has traveled to South Carolina plenty of times, but never to Myrtle Beach. This was our first time there, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was really looking forward to touching the Atlantic Ocean again! Myrtle Beach is about 350 miles east of Atlanta. It’s a few hours drive and takes only about a tank of gas to get there.
My husband and I were celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary! Last month we went to South Walton, FL without the kids so we felt like we should spend our anniversary as a family. It was the best decision ever, because we had so much fun!
Our hotel was ocean front, so we could just take the elevator down, walk about a hundred feet and we were on the beach! I always found a nice spot in the sand, and took everything down that we needed. I didn’t want to have to go back upstairs until we were done for the day. I could literally sit on the beach for hours. It just makes me happy!
BabyCake loved the ocean but she stayed close to the shore. Those waves were big and hard. She much rather build cakes in the sand and drizzle sand icing all over them.
My boys loved the waves. They went out further so they could swim back when a wave pushed them in.
Flying kites is easier and more fun next to the ocean too! By the time the kids were done, all the kite strings were tangled, but it was worth it.
Vacation time meant late nights and early mornings. They kids were happy to stay up way past their bedtime. We walked down the shore and they searched for seashells and tiny sand crabs.
Our last morning in Myrtle Beach I was able to capture this beautiful sunrise over the Atlantic. It was breath taking and simply amazing. It was the perfect end to our anniversary, and start to our trip back to Atlanta.
Before heading home we also checked out Ripley’s Aquarium. Stay tuned for the review soon! This trip we really just enjoyed the ocean and spending time together as a family.
