Meet The Newest American Girl BeForever Doll: Melody Ellison
We are so excited about the newest American Girl BeForever Doll! Melody Ellison is an African American girl and her story is set in 1964 during the civil rights era. Melody is set to be released later this year, but the first book in her series, “No Ordinary Sound” is available now.
No Ordinary Sound is a chapter book, so my daughter and I read it together. BabyCake loves American Girl, so she was very excited about adding this new book to her collection. This book touches on the four little girls killed in the Birmingham bombing in 1963 and Dr King’s “I Have A Dream Speech.”
Melody is inspired to find her voice and with the help and inspiration of her family members, and sing out against discrimination. No Ordinary Sound is a story of hope, strength, and courage.
After this book, we can’t wait to see what else is in store for Melody. Her voice is still relevant today and her story should inspire all girls and give them courage to speak out for what’s right. You can find out more about Melody HERE as well as the readers guide for parents for No Ordinary Sound HERE.
