Schools out for summer!
I’m a homeschooling mom that teaches year round but we do make time for summer fun. Here is a list of free or nearly free things to do with your little ones.
1. Visit your local library for their summer reading program
2. Visit local splash pads
3. Go on an outdoor exploration scavenger hunt
4. Visit your local national park for hiking
5. Go camping in your backyard
6. Head to the playground
7. Visit local community gardens and learn about plant life
8. Check museum websites for free days
9. Make a bird feeder from pine cones
10. Play outdoor games: tag, dodge ball, etc
11. Go to the beach/lake
12. Go to a festival
13. Check for local “movies on the green”
14. Stargaze – discover constellations
15. Make and fly paper airplanes/kites
16. Go for a family walk
17. Blow bubbles
18. Try a Home Depot or Lowes free kids workshop
19. Build a cardboard castle
20. Ride bikes or scooters
21. Visit a fire station
22. Have a picnic
23. Start a garden
24. Play hopscotch
25. Collect insects
