In this post I share Five Immune Boosters for Cold & Flu Season. It’s that time of year again! These Five Immune Boosters for Cold & Flu Season help strengthen the immune system and are overall good for health when consumed on a regular basis. You can integrate these immune boosters into your diet or consume them alone. It’s usually a little tricky to get kids to agree to eating some of the foods on the list, so I like to add them to fresh juice like in this easy juice recipe.
Immune Boosters
Fresh Ginger – I love the taste and smell of ginger. I use it in many of my Asian dishes for a little spicy kick. I juice ginger, and even create a tea with ginger. Ginger is a wonderful digestive aid. It helps combat nausea and upset stomach. Ginger is a powerful antioxidant and helps to relieve congestion. It’s rich in potassium and Vitamin B6.
Fresh Orange and Lemon juice – Of course oranges and lemons are both high in Vitamin C. Vitamin C is what our bodies use to protect it from illness and disease. These fruits are both rich in antioxidants. Warm lemon water is a great way to start your day. Oranges and lemons both offer a natural energy boost.
Raw Honey – Raw honey is definitely one of my favorite immune boosters for cold and flu season. Raw honey when consumed acts as a cough suppressant, it’s rich in antioxidants and also a natural energy booster. Raw honey is great in tea, and for using as a sugar substitute. Raw honey also has more uncommon uses found here.
Fresh Garlic – Fresh garlic promotes a healthy heart and immune system. Fresh garlic is rich in vitamins A, B, C, Calcium and Zinc. Garlic helps for coughing, scratchy throat and allergies and sinuses.
Apple Cider Vinegar – Apple Cider Vinegar, also known as ACV has a wide range of uses. It aids in detoxification of the body and restores energy. ACV is filled with amino acids and potassium which are essential to the functioning of your immune system.
I try to protect my family and I during the winter months with these Five Immune Boosters for Cold & Flu Season. Do you use any of these immune boosters? Let’s connect! Leave a comment or find me on Instagram and Twitter @mommyweek #mommyweek or on Facebook.

November 18, 2013 at 12:51 pmI love all of these ingredients for a special concocted brew 😉 when I was pregnant and couldn’t drink tea, but needed something warm to soothe me, I’d boil the lemon and mix with honey and mandarins with a little ginger. how do u prepare the raw ginger for consumption?
