Finding Balance: Tips For Busy Moms
As a mom, is there really such a thing as a completely balanced life? I don’t believe there is. I do think at any given time, you are giving something in your life more attention than you’re giving another thing. I do think we can strive to find a way to make everything we do come together for cohesiveness and overall contentment.
I consider myself a super busy mom. My life is pretty much non-stop from the time I wake up in the morning, until the time I go to bed at night. There are a few things that I do to make things work while not forgetting about myself, and still maintaining family life and entrepreneurship.
Here are some tips that I use to find balance in day to day life:
Schedule & Plan – I live by my planner & calendar. If I didn’t have my planner to write everything down, I’m not sure where I would be. My planner keeps me on track with work deadlines, what needs to be done with the kids, grocery shopping, and even laundry. At the beginning of the year, I decided to try meal planning. While I found it wasn’t 100% for me, because I like spontaneity and I enjoy cooking certain things on a whim, it did teach me a few things. I create a loose plan for the week so that I know what I have in the kitchen, and it keeps me from over shopping.
Self Care – I have always believed that in order for me to be the best to my family, I have to be the best to myself first. Self care is high on my list of priorities. Daily I wake up before my children. Early mornings are my time to relax, have my coffee undisturbed, pray, and center myself for the day. Weekly I get out alone for errands, and it’s my time to shop without distraction. Doing what you love and enjoy actually makes you a happier person. Whatever it is that you enjoy, you should do it often. Schedule monthly massages, and pedicures and don’t feel guilty about it.
Don’t Forget Your Spouse – Being a busy mom can mean you overlook your significant other because you’re so focused on the kids and your home. Make sure to schedule a regular date night. Put hiring a sitter in your monthly budget. Plan a vacation without the kids. Do what’s necessary to make sure you keep your relationship high on your list of priorities.
Give Your Family Attention Without Devices – Responding to that email after business hours can wait. Don’t forget to spend time with your family without electronic devices around. That goes for everyone, even the kids. Sit down and actually have dinner together, talk about the day, or have a family game night, all without the distraction of electronics.
In a perfect world, everything would go as planned and we would all have a completely balanced life. But life isn’t perfect! There will always be something extra that needs to get done. Prioritizing and planning is key, and it makes it easier to handle the curve balls that come with life.
What are some ways that you find balance in your busy life?

April 20, 2016 at 7:27 amGreat tips! No matter how much I plan, I can never really get 100% of the things I’d like to get done. Most of the time, I only get to work on what needs to be done.
I should really start scheduling some me time, and a date night. We haven’t been able to do that since we moved more than two years ago.
