Fall Fun: Backyard Movie Night
Fall has finally arrived! It is my favorite time of the year. I love burning a fire out in our backyard fire pit, sipping spiced cider and hot cocoa, and it’s the perfect weather for a backyard movie night! Normally on Friday evenings my family will enjoy a movie together. It’s our weekly time for bonding and watching something we all can enjoy. For backyard movie night, we simply move all of the fun outside. I set up everything so that the kids can easily serve themselves. You could even pitch a tent in your backyard and turn it into a camp night.
I decided to start our movie shortly after dinner. We had pizza for easy clean up, and of course pizza goes great with movies. If you want to turn it into a party, you can always invite a few friends over and everyone can enjoy together. No movie is complete without popcorn, so we had a few bags freshly popped and available to go along with the treats.
Being that the fall temps are a little cooler, I felt it was the perfect time to have S’mores, hot cocoa, and a bonfire in addition to popcorn while we enjoyed our backyard movie night. S’mores are so easy to make. I picked up some marshmallow roasting sticks with glow in the dark handles that are safe for little hands from my local hardware store.
Here is everything you need to have your own Backyard Movie Night:
Popcorn
S’mores Fixings (Marshmallows, Graham Crackers, Chocolate)
Hot Cocoa (Mugs & Mini Marshmallows)
Movie Projector
Favorite Family Feature
Blankets
Fire-pit & wood
Chairs and tent are optional
Our weekend was so much fun and the kids can’t wait to do it again! I love making memories with my family, and our backyard movie night will become a new tradition.
Has your family ever planned a backyard movie night? What’s your favorite movie to watch together as a family?
