My husband and I were hosted in Sandy Springs for a complimentary date night staycation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
Date Night Staycation in Sandy Springs
Since returning home from Thanksgiving travel, I’ve been super busy! My husband didn’t go to Chicago with the children and I, so having a date night staycation close to home was the perfect idea for the weekend. Sandy Springs, GA is about a thirty minutes drive from my home. It’s actually one of my favorite places away from the city to shop, dine, and just have a good time. You still get the “Atlanta experience” but a more relaxed version of it. We stayed the night at the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria.
Wyndham Atlanta Galleria is minutes from Sandy Springs restaurants and attractions. It’s directly off of the highway and very easy to find. The hotel was recently renovated and has a modern style.
Wyndham Atlanta Galleria features complimentary parking, and complimentary shuttle to nearby sites, and a heated indoor & outdoor pool.
My husband and I stayed in a cozy deluxe king bedroom. The hotel has complimentary Wi-Fi if I wanted to catch up on any work, but I decided to leave the laptop at home.
My kiddos could have fit nicely on this sofa bed, but I’m glad we had a night to ourselves to relax.
We had the Wyndham Atlanta Romance Package, so these chocolate covered strawberries and cream were already in our room upon arrival.
On the first floor of the hotel is the The Chattahoochee Grille. It’s a full service restaurant and bar that’s really convenient if you want to just do all of your relaxing inside the hotel.
Before we headed out for dinner, we sampled several delicious appetizers that The Chattahoochee Grill offers. I especially enjoyed the shrimp and grits bites.
The bartender made me this delicious cranberry mint mocktail. It was really refreshing.
Dinner at il Giallo Osteria & Bar
il Giallo Osteria & Bar is a new authentic Italian restaurant located on Roswell Rd. It’s just minutes from Buckhead and in the heart of Sandy Springs. The restaurant has a really warm atmosphere, and is the perfect spot for a date night. We started our evening with these delicious meatballs made from duck and rabbit, topped with mushrooms and vidalia onions.
The next appetizer we tried was the grilled octopus served with olive oil mashed potatoes and pickled onions. All of the flavors went really well together.
Afterwards we were served this rich and decadent ravioli filled with roast duck, fontina cheese, with brown butter, sage and pecans.
For our main dishes we shared this braised rockfish with saffron, garlic and cherry tomatoes.
The second dish was a Roman style chicken with roasted peppers and herbs.
Everything was absolutely delicious and filling but I couldn’t miss out on dessert!
After this yummy meal, the bed back at the hotel was calling my name! We could get a restful nights sleep without any little ones interrupting, and the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria offers late checkout with the Romance Package. Sleeping in and watching the HD flat screen tv from our king size bed was in order.
Once this busy holiday season is over, everyone needs a little time away to rejuvenate, even if it’s a quick staycation! For more info on Sandy Springs visit visitsandysprings.org. Do you and your spouse ever take staycation’s without the kids?
