Children’s Museum of Atlanta All New for 2016
My family has been going to the Children’s Museum of Atlanta for almost a decade now. It’s one of my kids favorite places to play, explore, and get in some hands on learning. Recently the entire museum was fully renovated. Last month we were able to be one of the first guests to check out all of the upgrades.
Upon entry, BabyCake couldn’t help but notice that her favorite part of the museum had been turned into a large diner and grocery store! If she could have spent her entire visit in that one spot, she would have. The Fundamentally Food exhibit has been transformed into a large diner, grocery store with karts, a farm, and the classic delivery truck is still there.
Kids can actually connect the dots on where their food comes from. Starting with the farm, then they can make healthy choices in the grocery store with real boxes, containers, fruits and veggies they would normally see in a real grocer, then head to the diner to cook it all up. It’s imagination and learning through play at it’s best.
Equally awesome in the museum is this new Gateway to the World Globe. It’s connected to a fun climber and kids can go inside and look out around the museum. The train tables below the globe each represent a continent. Little ones love the train tables and can play there for hours.
Also new to the museum is the Arts Studio. Children are able to go inside and create various arts and crafts with one of the museums Imaginators.
One of my personal favorite parts of the renovation is the opening of the upper level. The upper level of the museum is all about science!
My children can play with these Cubelets for hours. Cubelets inspire kids to think more, and they can create a variety of different robotic configurations.
While at the museum there are several programs happening throughout the day. My oldest son was able to participate in the “Super Spectacular Science Show.”
The Other Programs happening on the CMA Stage are:
Music & Movement
Eat A Georgia Rainbow
Mini-Musical
Story Time
Meet The Holidays
We really love the new renovations to the Children’s Museum of Atlanta! The expansion allows for all children to have more space to play, learn, discover and create. The museum is the perfect place for children ages 6 months to about 9 years old. My oldest son just turned 10 and he still enjoys going to the museum.
