Celebrating My History #JourneyofYou
This Black History Month I’m joining MassMutual, as I reflect on my families history and sharing my personal #JourneyofYou story. In the past I’ve shared a little bit about my grandma, whom we all lovingly knew as Bigma. She was the matriarch of our family that paved the way for the woman I am today as she has for so many others. She was a vital piece of our family puzzle.
At one point in my life, Bigma played the role of both of my parents. She taught me hard work and discipline. I have so many memories and funny stories of our time spent together. Bigma was one of the best examples of compassion, as she would give someone the shirt off of her back if they needed it. Bigma’s house has been the home to so many. There were even people who weren’t directly related to us, but when they left they were known as our cousins, aunts, and uncles.
This Black History Month as you reflect on your own journey, contemplate the legacy you plan to leave behind for your children. Mass Mutual can help you with options to protect the people that mean the most in your life. Unfortunately we live too much in the present and don’t plan for the “what if’s” and our future. Bigma was busy making sure our whole family had what we needed to thrive. Her wisdom has taught me to prepare and plan for my children.
Mass Mutual wants you explore your heritage, discover your past, and plan for your future. Check out this video to learn what the #JourneyofYou is all about.
