Birthday Travel in the Kia Optima SX Limited
I just had a birthday! On April 16th I celebrated my 33rd birthday in Destin, FL. I was able to travel to one of my favorite places in the 2016 Kia Optima SX Limited. I’ve always liked the Kia Optima. I’ve looked at it as a very sporty midsize sedan. That it is!
The Optima SX Limited is like the luxury vehicle of all of the Optima’s. It’s the top of the line! The leather interior was one of my favorite parts on the car. As soon as I got in, I was thinking……do I really have to let my kids ride in it??? I guess they had to! It’s the kind of car you really want to enjoy without kids sprinkling crumbs all over the backseat like they enjoy doing.
Such is life and they had to go to the beach with mommy! I didn’t mind, because I enjoy sitting near the ocean while they play. The Kia Optima SX Limited seats five comfortably. The backseat is more than roomy enough for adults to sit there also. There are dual zone temperature controls and heated and cooled seats throughout. Someone in the backseat too cold while the people riding in the front are warm? It’s no problem! The steering wheel is also heated, so that’s great for Fall and Winter.
The panoramic sunroof is everything! I’ve seen these sunroofs in crossovers and minivans, but it’s nice to see it in a midsize sedan. It makes the entire car feel a whole lot bigger. If you’re getting too much sun, with the touch of a button you can hit the sunshade and it will cover the sunroof. I left the sunshade open pretty much the entire time. Plus it delivers the right amount of light for the perfect selfie.
The Kia Optima SXL has a lot of great tech features as well. The surround view monitor gives you a look at everything that’s around your car. You can easily back in and out of spaces and make sure you don’t mistakenly hit anything. It also has a cool wireless charger, so you can charge up your cellphone without any cords.
During road trips my kids always fall asleep in the backseat. The rear door window sunshades came in handy so they wouldn’t get too hot while they were resting.
The trunk was really spacious and deep. We filled it with all of our luggage and there was room to spare. Excuse all of the sand in this pic! You can’t go to the beach without bringing back a little sand!
The 2016 Kia Optima SX Limited has a turbo charged engine, so it also goes pretty fast and moves through traffic with ease. It gets around 32 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city. We drove all the way from Atlanta to Destin, which is about 350 miles, on one tank of gas. I like to think of the Optima SXL as an affordable luxury vehicle. It starts at about $35K and well worth the price!
