Barnsley Resort Review
This season I’ve been taking you all on a Mommy Week Fall Fun journey! I’ve shared some great places near the city for your family to enjoy, but I think the Barnsley Resort has by far been my favorite! The Barnsley Resort is a place for southern luxury and comfort, and just about an hours drive from the city in Adairsville, GA. It’s apart of the Southern Living Hotel Collection which offers the best in Southern travel accommodations. I saw pictures of the resort online, but I really wasn’t prepared for the beauty and relaxing atmosphere that was in store.
Upon our arrival, we started the day with lunch at The Woodlands Grill. We decided to sit on the patio and take in the gorgeous view of the golf course behind us.
The food…… Oh my, the food was absolutely delicious. There were several options to choose from for the children, but the chef was happy to accommodate any of our special requests. For lunch I decided on southern classics; fried green tomatoes and fried catfish. My husband went with a buffalo chicken wrap. I even tried the Resorts very own organic soda. When dinner time rolled around we had an even more delectable meal. The appetizers were fried oysters with cream spinach on Crostini Parmesan and a Fried Lobster Tail with Chinese Honey Mustard and drawn butter. For the main course both my husband and I had the Brasstown Ribeye cooked to perfection. My oldest son requested fish and the waiter suggested halibut. The chef made it for him to order. I really appreciated the flexibility and service.
After our delicious afternoon meal we checked into our cozy southern cottage. The southern decor and accents were stunning. I felt right at home! Our cottage had a king size bed, a sleeper sofa, wood burning fireplace, and private patio. The bathroom was filled with southern charm. The claw foot bathtub was everything!
We didn’t stay in the cottage for long. We had a day filled with activities. First we tried our hand at fishing. The kids loved every minute of it. We almost caught a big one, but the hook broke and the fish took the bait with it!
Next the kids were able to horseback ride for the first time around the stable and lake. They really enjoyed the experience.
Afterwards we toured the grounds and just took in the scenery. The gardens were lovely. The Resort also has historic ruins and a Museum filled with Civil War artifacts. The historian was present to give the kids a quick history lesson.
Our day was filled with fun and relaxing activities. To bring it to a close, we decided to settle down in front of a fire pit right outside our cottage. The concierge bought over smores fixings which are complimentary to all guests during their stay. The kids were really excited about that!
The next morning the kids had a fun scavenger hunt with a special surprise at the end from the Barnsley Resort Fairy Godmother!
My family had a wonderful, serene stay at the Barnsley Resort! The southern hospitality we received was bar none. The staff was genuinely helpful, courteous, and friendly at all times. The memories we made were priceless.
