Easy Chocolate Mousse with Berries Recipe
A few weeks ago I was invited to Nashville to learn all about the history of chocolate in America and had a chance to have a few delicious desserts created with American Heritage Chocolate. You can read all about that trip HERE. Today I’m sharing how you can take American Heritage Chocolate and create your own easy to make chocolate mousse. You can find American Heritage Chocolate online, at over 160 historical sites across the United States & Canada, and at your local Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores while supplies last.
American Heritage Chocolate is the perfect chocolate to use to create chocolate mousse and other recipes and desserts. It’s 63% cacao so it’s just the right ratio to create a rich treat. American Heritage Chocolate is dark chocolate, and slightly sweet. You’ll be able to taste a little bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, chili pepper, orange, anise, and vanilla. It has the original flavor of the chocolate eaten in colonial times. It contains no dairy, wheat, and nut free and not made in a facility that has nuts, so you don’t have to worry about any food allergies. It’s also all-natural with no preservatives and certified Kosher.
I like mousse because it’s light and fluffy, and this recipe doesn’t require you use eggs plus it doesn’t have many complicated steps. The American Heritage Chocolate block I used is already scored in three places, but I simply use a knife to create roughly shaved chocolate. You can enjoy the mousse by itself, but I think fresh berries go perfect with chocolate. Any berries of your choice will do, but it’s strawberry season right now.
I top my mousse with fresh cream and more shaved chocolate for a decadent treat. This is perfect as a dessert for some me time when you steal a moment away from the kids.
- 1 pt of berries of your choice
- 1 block of American Heritage Chocolate shaved
- 16 oz of heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- On medium high heat, in a sauce pan heat the heavy cream until it bubbles slightly
- Next add the shaved chocolate and mix until melted
- Remove from the heat and add the vanilla extract
- Place mixture into the fridge to chill for 30 minutes to an hour
- Blend mixture until fluffy
- Scoop mousse into dish and add berries
- Serve with whipped cream, berries, and shaved chocolate on top
- Enjoy!
This recipe is great for parties, me time, and a cool treat for the summer. To find more recipes, Chocolate History info, and where to buy, visit AmericanHeritageChocolate.com!
