Southern Inspired Holiday Pie Recipes
I’ve talked about my grandma before on the blog. She was more affectionately known as Bigma. Bigma was born & raised in Columbus, GA. Her southern roots had a lot of influence on my childhood and the things we ate. One of the things Bigma did really well was bake pies. Every holiday I watched her bake 20-30 pies in one day. She had special requests to fill. Some of her favorites to make were Sweet Potato Pies and Millionaires Pies.
I actually shared with my friends via Facebook this week that I went to the store to buy everything for Sweet Potato Pie. There was just one problem. I watched Bigma make pies in bulk for the masses, without any measurements. They turned out perfect every time. I only wanted to make two!
Unfortunately Bigma died last year, on the day before Thanksgiving at almost 100 years old. I was feeling really down and out that I couldn’t call my grandmother and ask her how much of what to put in the pies. I decided that I would create a sweet potato pie made with love, just like I watched Bigma do on so many holidays growing up. All of our family and friends loved one of her pies.
In honor of Bigma, I’m sharing with you 12 Southern Inspired Holiday Pie Recipes from Foodie.com. When planning your holiday dinner this season, remember to cook with love!
