Three Ways to Prep Your Home for Cold & Flu Season
It feels like just yesterday we were enjoying hot summer days! Just a month ago Atlanta was still experiencing warm temperatures well over 80 degrees. Now it’s raining off and on almost daily, and it’s apparent that cooler weather is in the forecast. That means cold & flu season are upon us! Let’s face it, no one really likes to get sick! The kids are whiny, everything hurts, and the worst part is when the men in our lives are sick! Have you ever had to suffer through a “man cold”?! Everything for a man is ten times worse than when we experience it. We can continue to clean house, run errands, teach the kids, and have dinner on the table at the end of the day. My husband had a man cold a few weeks ago, it’s agony for everyone involved! I still love him dearly though! *(insert smiles here)*
There are a few things that I do to prepare myself, my family, and my home for cold & flu season every year. You know the saying “Stay ready, so you won’t have to get ready!”? Well that goes for preparing for and prevention of illnesses as well!
Practical Tips to Get Ready:
Boost Your Immune System – You are what you eat! One of the easiest ways for your family to be prepared for cold & flu season is to consume a healthy diet. The better we eat in terms of healthy fruits and veggies, packed with vitamins and antioxidants, the stronger we can be to resist illnesses that come our way. I always try to keep my kitchen stocked with citrus fruits and ginger during this time of year. We should also encourage our children to practice good hand washing habits as well to keep away from germs.
Deep Cleaning – I know a lot of people like to do Spring Cleaning, or even a New Year purge at the end of the year, but cold & flu season is the perfect time for deep cleaning. This time of year I always spend time sanitizing my home, organizing, and de-cluttering. A clutter free and clean space is a great way to protect your family from the spread of unwanted viruses and illnesses.
Stock up on Scotties Tissue – Sometimes no matter what preventative steps we take, the cold or flu still seems to slip through the cracks. When that time comes, you can already be prepared by having Scotties Tissue on-hand! Scotties new box designs easily fit in with the aesthetic of any room in your home.
